Comparison
Leather vs suede flogger.
Same tool, different sensation. Smooth leather (cowhide, deerskin) tends toward a thuddy, heavy impact; suede (the brushed underside of leather) flutters lighter and stings rather than thuds. New buyers often arrive thinking they want one and discover they want the other.

The verdict
Suede is the better first flogger: forgiving, light, harder to hit too hard with, and trains the bottom to read sensation. Leather is the upgrade for buyers who want thud and weight and have learned where on the body to land it (large muscle groups only, never kidneys or spine).
