Comparison
Silicone vs hybrid lubricant.
Both outlast water-based lube. Silicone is the longest-lasting, slipperiest option but is incompatible with silicone toys. Hybrid (water with small percentage of silicone) gives most of the longevity while staying safe on silicone toys. The choice is whether silicone toys are in your collection.
| Spec | Silicone-based | Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Compatible with silicone toys | NO (bonds, degrades) | YES (certified brands) |
| Glide longevity | 60+ min | 15-30 min |
| Reactivates with water | No (must reapply) | Yes (drop of water) |
| Cleanup | Soap required | Soap + water |
| Stains fabric | Yes (small risk) | Low risk |
| Anal use | Excellent (longest-lasting) | Good |
| UK price (250 ml) | ~£15-£30 | ~£10-£18 |
| Best for | Steel/glass toys, anal, shower | Mixed-collection households |
The verdict
If you own silicone toys, hybrid is the only correct answer between these two. If you own no silicone toys (steel, glass, ABS only) or you only use lube without toys, pure silicone has the longer glide and the slickest feel. Both are condom-safe with latex and non-latex.
