A bespoke piece of bondage furniture in the UK starts at £400 and most commissions finish between £500 and £2,000. The figure is not mysterious. It is a base price for the piece, multiplied by what it is made of, plus a short list of extras that each carry a published price. Almost nobody in this market publishes those numbers, which is why buyers assume bespoke means unaffordable. Below is the whole price book.
Base prices by piece
Every price here is for the piece built in welded mild steel with a matte black powder-coat, unpadded, at a standard size. That is the cheapest honest specification for each type, and the figure every other decision builds on.

What the material does to the price
Material is the single biggest lever, and it works as a multiplier on the base price rather than a flat addition. Steel is quick to fabricate. Timber costs more in both material and joinery hours, and the premium species cost more again.

Finish is a smaller addition on top. Black powder-coat and raw sealed steel are included. A custom RAL colour adds £60, brushed satin £90, polished £150. On timber, hard-wax oil adds £40, stain £60, lacquer £70, ebonising £110. So an oak cross with an oiled finish is £810 plus £40, which the price book rounds to £850.

A first bench, £460
Compact spanking bench, welded mild steel, black powder-coat, high-density foam padding. Base £400 plus £60 padding. Total £460, deposit £230, balance £230.
A discreet oak cross, £1,165
St Andrew's cross in solid oak with a hard-wax oiled finish, wall-mounted, demountable so it lifts off the wall, with a matching leather cuff set. Base £850, plus £85 wall-mount kit, £140 folding mechanism and £90 cuff set. Total £1,165, deposit £585, balance £580. This is the most-commissioned shape we build for people who do not live alone.
A walnut bed frame, £2,290
Full-size bondage bed frame in solid walnut, lacquered, with concealed anchor points and real leather upholstery. Base £1,990, plus £120 concealed anchors and £180 leather. Total £2,290, deposit £1,145, balance £1,145. Made up, it is a bed. Turned down, the points are there.

The reason a bolt-together frame fails is rarely that the steel is too thin. It is that bolted joints work loose under repeated load, and once a joint has movement in it the movement only grows. Continuously welded steel and properly jointed hardwood remove that failure mode entirely, which is most of what you are paying for.
What you pay and when
A quote is fixed for the piece and specification described on it. The split is 50 per cent on the agreed sketch, and the balance once the piece is finished, before it ships. Nothing leaves the workshop unpaid, and nothing is taken before you have approved a drawing. Two rounds of amends to the sketch are included. Build time is six to nine weeks from the agreed sketch.
The costs people forget
Upholstery compliance. Upholstered furniture supplied in the UK is covered by the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, which set ignition-resistance requirements for fillings and covers. A padded bench is upholstered furniture. Ask any maker whether their foam and cover meet those tests, and be wary of imported padded pieces that cannot tell you.
Wall fixings. A wall-mounted piece is only as good as what it is bolted to. Fixings into masonry or concrete should be selected and installed to BS 8539, and a stud wall usually needs the load spread across more than one stud. Budget for the fixing work if you are not doing it yourself.
Delivery. Two-person UK mainland delivery with in-room assembly is included on our commissions, as is discreet crated delivery to your door if you would rather nobody came inside. The Scottish Highlands and islands add £120, Northern Ireland and Ireland £180.

- No. Fifty per cent on the agreed sketch, and the balance once the piece is finished and before it ships. The sketch and the quote are both free, and nothing is charged until you approve the drawing.

- Six to nine weeks from the agreed sketch. Custom finishes such as a specialty stain or a two-tone colour can add one to two weeks. An expedited build brings it forward by two to three weeks for £200.
- Q: Is a quote fixed, or does it move?
- Fixed for the piece and specification described on it. It moves only if you change the design, and we re-issue the quote before anything is built. If you leave the material or finish undecided, the quote says so and holds the price at the base specification until you settle it.
