Vibrator waterproofing has specific tiers. The marketing language "waterproof" and "splashproof" mean different things; the manufacturer's IP rating is what determines safe use.
The IP ratings explained
- IPX4 — splash-resistant. Survives splashes from any direction. Wipe-clean safe; not for shower or bath.
- IPX5 — water-resistant. Survives directed water spray. Shower-safe; not for submersion.
- IPX6 — strong-spray resistant. Same as IPX5 for practical use.
- IPX7 — submersible to 1m for 30 minutes. Bath-safe; full submersion fine.
- IPX8 — fully waterproof. Deeper / longer submersion. Premium toys; not common.

What to do in the bath
- External use only typically — running water around the body adds friction; lubricant washes off; the experience is different from a dry session.
- Don't use mains-powered toys near water under any circumstances.
- Dry the charge port thoroughly before charging — moisture in the port is the leading cause of bath-use toy failure.
- Use silicone-based lubricant in water — water-based washes off immediately.
After bath use
- Rinse off any soap or oil residue.
- Towel-dry the exterior thoroughly.
- Air-dry overnight before charging — never charge a damp toy.
- Check for any signs of water ingress (rattling, error lights) before next use.
